Search engines may test how your site handles 404 errors by inventing crazy/bogus page names.



I did little more research on this...

Many web sites are saying search engines (especially msnbot IPs and some referals from 'google.com/search') crawling fake urls. But hundreds of them?


This of course created a bad user experience on both sides of the equation.


Exactly. This is what worries me and loss of keyword traffic from Google.
