Hi Guys
Got a quick query here I could do with some input on.
My main domain is 7 years old and there have been no major changes to its structure in over 12 months.
However, over the weekend I got this message in my GWT inbox
Google detected a significant increase in the number of URLs we were blocked from crawling due to authorization permission errors
I have checked the URLs, all are accessible WITHOUT login requirements and the vast majority are from an old forum that has been killed off sometime ago.
Now, with the old forum, I popped a wildcard 301 to cover all indexed pages to a message on the main site stating the forum has now ceased to operate. I am under the impression that these will remove from this issue over time, is this correct?
Also, the other URLs were flagged up as dupe content last month and as such, I corrected this position utilising 301 and implementing a canonical link ref.
Is this issue just a matter of time waiting for it to clean up or is there any immediate action I should be taking?
The error reported is 403.
Thanks in advance.
Daren
