For some unknown reason, I cannot get this site into Google: www.hyperbaric-care.com

It has tons of content so I do not know what is up. Did I do a boo-boo somewhere that Google may not like or have I just not been patient enough? It has been online since June 15th. Any suggestions? :drunk:

Thanks ahead of time,
Tawnya

Tawnya,

That is a puzzle. I don't see anything wrong with the site. You have a few outgoing links. Do you have any incoming or backlinks? If not Google won't find you. But other than this I think the site should be well indexed for hyperbaric and Vancouver.

Very strange. Maybe others can explain the problem.

Right now, no, they have no backward links. I could give them one from my web design site but being that is not relevant, not sure it would help. Would it help at least get Google to cache it? Then once cached I could remove it ? Just a thought.

You definitely need to give a spider a reason to pop in, and a backlink is the way to do it. Have you submitted the site to any directories yet?

I have submitted it to dmoz and google plus some other major search engines that are free. (they don't want to pay for search engine submission at this time). What directories do you suggest?

I just checked the cache for all the sites I put on my business links off my site and they seemed to have been picked up by Google so have put their link there for now http://www.mediamage.com/links.htm See if this picks them up.

I keep telling them to network with other sites, but so far they are lagging on this. They don't pay me to do it else I would for them. I would however, like to see them at least in the search engines considering I optimized them for it and would like to see the results for my own gratification.

Thank gawd I get a break tomorrow...going to see CHER's final concert in Vancouver...yeah! :drunk:

Thanks for the responses so far ;)

Google's not a directory. They have a directory, but it's just a clone of DMOZ. And DMOZ takes a very long time to add a new site.

Try JoeAnt, GoGuides, Gimpsy, and if the site is non-profit (or contains non-commercial material) Zeal.

Thanks, I will do that right now. As for non-profit, they do have lots of hyperbaric info on their site and do not have prices there, could this be considered non-profit however? :drunk:

Tawnya,

I always try to repeat a keyword phrase such as Hyperbaric Care in the Title and Description tags AND at least one Alt tag. Or Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy what ever you are primarily targeting. But with Hyperbaric Care being your Domain this might be the best to concentrate on first.

Would the local clinic or a doctor familiar with the product be willing to link to the site? Are they members of any associations? Chamber of Commerce, Medical Society or such? Do you have a Clients page? That would be a relevant back link to start.

Good luck. It is a nice looking site and deserves to be seen.

A link from your web site under "sites we have designed" would be fine. We put a link to every site we work with on our company web site and frequently those are the first backlinks that Google picks up. Any link is better than none and a link from the creative company is perfectly valid.

I'm convinced that this is your problem.

BTW it takes a long time to get things listed in the directories. The most important and hardest to work with is still DMOZ. So don't depend on them in the short term. Get up some backlinks. That is the only no-no you have commited.

These directories are not free are they? As for becoming an editor, is there any advantage to this? Is anyone editors here and if so, why did you become one?

In that case, I have links like that on both my web design sites. The new site just got picked up by Google this week so the hyperbaric site does have two incoming links from both my sites. (not that this is helping yet) :drunk:

As for dmoz picking up a site, any time span there? I added them to it in June and then again a month later. I don't want to add it too many times incase they get sick of me adding it?

The advantage to becoming an editor is that you're permitted to submit sites without paying. One can also choose to be altruistic and submit sites one finds to be worthy of inclusion, but I admit it... I haven't done that.

Don't resubmit to DMOZ unless an editor asks you to. In many cases (depending on how the editor organizes his/her submission queue) resubmitting will drop your site back to the end of the line.

Since it's been a couple of months and you're not in yet, try posting in the Site Submission Status area of the Resource Zone.

Thanks for this resource, I was not aware of it.

Also thanks to everyone who have eased my mind about this for today anyhow. Coincidently, this client just phoned me to say they would be another week or so to get final payment to me for design of the site so at this point, I'm not going to research this much further today....time to enjoy the weekend!

Thanks to all...much appreciated.
