Hi there.

I'm having an issue as follows:

 

A business owner sold their business and we bought the business, but the seller refuses to relinquish the domain name which has achieved a decent google presence over 4 years.

We now have a holding page under a new URL while we develop new site (same business name though), how can we get the new legitimate business site ranking ahead of their existing results? At present our holding page doesn't register anywhere, and the old owners pages are everywhere....

...all of their links redirect to a new single page, a type of holding page they have kept up to explain that they are no longer involved in the business.

They have Google places setup? Is this unfair? Should they be made to delete their google places?

Talk to your legal advisors, a company domain name should have been part of the company assets and sold WITH the company name.
