I have a website that is fully on https (index page and inner pages).

I want the google indexed and in GWT recognized index URL to be https: //www.domain.com

All links going to

should be counted towards above mentioned google recognized URL.

Similar for inner page links to:

should go to following only google indexed page:

https: //www.domain.com/subfolder/page.html

What is the most current way to achieve this?

Do I need to look at canonical tag or htaccess 301's to address this?

I have found numerous blog posts ranging from 2007 discussing certain parts of this issue (htaccess code snippets) but I want to be as exact as possible and use the most recent method that covers all these cases, thats why I decided to post this thread.
