Measure your url's popularity at yahoo. Same as page rank.

OK- curiosity got the better of me so I installed it. After seeing nothing in the bar, I thought I must have to log in so I created a yahoo account. Still nothing. When you've exhausted everything else, might as well read the documentation!

It doesn't measure link popularity like page rank- it's a traffic/popularity counter like Alexa, measuring traffic to a particular site by users of the toolbar who have enabled the toolbar to send data to Yahoo.

:fingerscrossed:

It's very intresting that Yahoo web rank toolbar is another way yahoo will discovers new sites.

Helps Yahoo! to discover new public sites faster and incorporate those sites into the Yahoo! Search index resulting in more comprehensive search results.

The Web Rank values are calculated using a sophisticated scoring algorithm provides a measure of the popularity of the Web page or Web site that you are visiting.

OK, so someone puts pictures of them and theirs doing things while rolling in the hay, but don't link to the pages.

She has the Yahoo! toolbar installed, hey presto, their spotty butts are plasterred over the world. How do you spell immense privacy issues?? Googel have always claimed to NEVER do this, YahoO! is taking a huge risk here IMHO!!!

Went to the front companion toolbar page to look through the whole thing and see what other juicy stuff I could find out. Unfortunately, since I use a real web browser, the bar won't work for me without chaning over to IE. I know that. Not a problem, but Yahoo's page merely tells me that I'm a putz and I need IE to even look at the information about the bar.

Bad bad Yahoo!

How do you enable the webrank? I installed the bar, and there's no webrank there. Then I read a FAQ which said that you can enable it while installing. I coudn't find any such preference page. Anyone?

I had the same problem, Farhan. I installed and uninstalled three times looking for the option during the installation process. Nothing. Without the ability to call Y's attention to a page, I don't see any reason to use this thing, so until somebody tells me how to enable Web Rank I'm staying away.

Besides, if I want to go directly to Yahoo search, Firefox gives you the option of numerous sources for its search box, including the IMDB

Just what we need, Yahoo tracking our every move on the Web. And with all the info they already know about us too by our user profile that they make us sign in with.

No thanks. I won't be installing it.

Now if they actually paid us for discovering sites that were not previously indexed, I may actually do something that helps Yahoo. Otherwise, I'm still paying them and working for free. Something's amiss in this relationship . . ..

What I've found amusing is how many people here have been installing...oops, sorry...trying to install this thing. I already have the Google toolbar and the Alexa Toolbar installed, and the only thought I had when I heard about the Yahoo! Toolbar is, "No. That's the last corner of my screen that's still visible!" :D

Agreed, that was my thought exactly... no more toolbars! So, for those curious about site's WebRank and have no desire to install another toolbar (or use a different OS/browser), you can do it: http://www.digitalpo.../tools/webrank/

I won't be installing it. Heck, if I installed every toolbar every one makes, there'd be no more room to view a web page. I have Google TB and that is it. I don't care much about PR (clients do) and I sure don't want to waste any time getting obsessed over any more *ranks!
