Hi, I don't know if this is in the right section so apologise if not.
I have rather a nice problem. Quite a large company has contacted me to ask me to put a banner on one of my sites. The problem is they want to know how much it will cost, and I have no idea.
The issue is the site they want to target is very relevant to them, but if a fairly young site (not a year old yet), and so far only attracts between 200 and 300 visitors a month. I've been leaving it to mature without doing too much work on it.
I don't want to overcharge and for them to see no return, but neither do I want to undersell as I'm hopeful that the site will eventually take off.
So, could anyone advise me of what would be an appropriate figure to quote to them? They are in the business of one sale being probably £1k - £2k so they'll be quids in if anyone buys through the banner. The risk is though, with so little traffic at the moment, they won't make any sales!

That is their risk not yours, they approached you, not the other way around.The risk is though, with so little traffic at the moment, they won't make any sales!

Thanks for that - very useful! I decided to go for £5 a month - amount set for one year. I didn't want to be greedy and chase them away, and to be quite honest it's more than I'm getting for the whole site in Adsense at the moment! :0)

Well, that's probably correct. As the article I mentioned points out, you've got to factor in the extra work of invoicing, keeping track of renewals, and all the other things you don't do with AdSense.
