Hi,

We have our website [removed] in 6 different languages.

Currently, we keep different domains for each language, as I was under the impression that it is much better SEO-wise, since each domain can have the suffix like: .de, .fr, .co.uk (or else, keep it .com and set the correct country in webmaster tools).

From the code development point of view, it is a lot easier to maintain all code under one domain.

So my question is: is it really much better from an SEO point of view to keep each language separate?

In case I wasn't clear, I am trying to decide between:

1.) example.com/de/, example.com/fr/, example.com/es/ etc

and

2.) www.example.com, www.differentlanguage1.com, www.differentlanguage2.com, www.differentlanguage3.com etc

(the latest are the translations of the sentence 'example' to the different languages)

*they are already established websites with great organic rankings, but since we are redesigning and re-coding all our websites anyway, I can take this opportunity and create a permanent redirect from those domains to the equivalent page under paintyourlife.com
