I have a client that ranks number one in the organic results for a competitive term. When you do a search and click on the "Places" option on the left hand side of Google, the listing is the number one Google Maps/ Places listing as well. However, the client does not rank in the maps results that are pulled into the regular organic listings (and he wants to be there). Did Google refine their algorithm so that it is not possible to have both a top regular organic listing and a top places listing on the same SERP? This would make sense in terms of providing a diverse set of search results for a searcher. I am not sure why the client would rank number one for the "Places" search option but not #1 for the places results that are pulled onto the "Everything" results.

Thanks for your help!
