In Google.ca when I search for my brand name, "United States" shows in the organic listing? I think this may be a bit confusing to visitors. Is there a way I can fix this? (I do have a .com and .ca version of site)

Did you try to geolocalise each site in GWT? yoursite.ca for Canada ,yoursite.com for the united States for instance.

Yes, did that for US and CA in Google Webmaster.

Do you have a screenshot? Seems odd. They're just adding that in?

Yes, our main business is, but there are other businesses where they are based out of the US and it isnt showing up. So I didnt know if there was something we could do to "fix" it.

Is the .ca site on a Canadian server? And do you have physical stores/offices in Canada?

I see the Brampton ON address at the bottom of the home page, but if you do have a brick and mortar location there, it doesn't look like you've set up a Google Places page, which would probably be helpful.

I've seen the same thing. I have a site that's aimed at US visitors. I used Google Webmaster Tools to set the target location as USA. After I did that, if someone found the site via Google UK and they specified "sites from the UK" in the search options, then the visitor would see "United States" at the top of the snippet.

I assume this is Google's way of telling searchers that the site doesn't meet their geographic requirement, but it is still relevant to their search.

By the way, I've not seen any drop in non-US traffic as a result of this.
