Going From A Static Cart To A Database Cart
Posted 16 March 2004 - 02:08 PM
I find that certain products rank rather high in Google for several search terms, that is because of the static pages that have been there for years.
I do have the database cart carrying the same items and have put a link to the database cart from the static pages.
I was thinking about using a 301 redirect to transfer customers directly to the new cart, but I'm afraid that will mess up my google ranking.
I am doing this with several product lines on the web site.
I'm open to ideas as to what I should do??
This is my first post here btw. :-)

You have quite a problem.. How many products are we talking? If it's more then plenty, making a redirect on every product can take alot of time. What's the rank of the pages? Does the rank support your business or can you deal with a drop for a month or two?

At least that's my understanding of how the 301 redirect works.
