A How To Copywriting Article
Posted 16 March 2004 - 06:19 AM
I have done this article on copywriting, where I have used the article as the example on how to copywrite basics. I would really love some feedback to what others think and if I have gone astray anywhere. If you have any ideas on how to improve it, that would be great.
The thought just kinda popped into my head and this come out as a result.

Copywriting is a very, very highly skilled art - I have a book at home which I reference for all the dos and don'ts, and I look at junk mail that comes through the door, and adverts in papers, and charity leaflets that want my money etc. because it's a skill that I want to learn.
Search Engine copywriting - the keywords thing - I think you covered the basics. If you're aiming at beginners I would suggest simplifying it a little further even.
I would also consider the layour, it's a lot of information to digest as it is - perhaps more white space, and more subheaders, so that the reader can skim through the page and decide at what points to stop off.

I'm not in your field but read the article. Who is the target audience? If it were a beginner (we'll just say that I fit into that category for the sake of it) I really only came away with one interesting knugget to take home (the bit about the page title). It (or I) started to lose focus toward the end and the conclusion is not really a conclusion but a summary of sorts. It seems you could work each section out into its own article and really come up with a nice publication.

As I am in this field, I knew what you were talking about so I can't comment on whether or not it would be understood by people new to SEO. I guess my comment would be though that if they were on your site, and reading that article, they were attempting to learn and in which case, it hit the mark.
My only other comment would be to put the code example on a separate pagragh so that it is easier to see the layout.
I have bookmarked your site though - for my own interest!!!!
