Hi:)

Im going for an SEO job that gives full training, and therefore my practical knowledge isnt all that great. I have a basic understanding about SEO but I am really interested in it and i think it was my enthusiasm that got me the interview.

I have been given a task to brain storm my ideas about natural link building. A motorcyclist company selling equipment, parts and clothes need to build natural links and i need to put suggestions forward.

Would you say these are good suggestions:

When promoting clothes, parts or equipment, submit promotions to discount sites like hotukdeals? That way both sites are getting links and more of an outward reach?
Also, after dealing with customers, prompt them to complete reviews on websites such as Ciao, etc? (Is this a natural way of link building?)
I was also going to suggest creating good quality content, for example which gear is best to use in certain conditions for motorcyclists? Free guides that could be interesting to people with this kind of hobbie.
Also, maybe another idea would be to blog, write about good places for motorcyclists could go (certain rally courses, particular areas, feature other businesses in blog posts and promote them, asking for a link in exchange )

Am I on the right lines here, or am i not thinking outside of the box? And are these natural? I weould have thought that natural links require no work they come without effort... but good marketing must generate this i believe? This is hard as I have no practical skills and I am dying to learn this stuff. What do you guys think of my suggestions?

First off, link "building" is not "SEO" it is promotional.

Secondly: YOU cannot build links "naturally" it just happens, well ... ermmm, ..... naturally.

If the profit margin allows for it quite possibly. But do that for the sales it could bring NOT the links.

Correct on both counts.

Just forget about link building for search engines, and concentrate on links for SEARCHERS

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. Would you say the suggestions are on the right lines? Engaging for searchers, opportunity for reciprocal links?

hi,
as you say want to know how to do natural link building, write useful content with targeted keywords attract readers and wants to no more, then link them to your website for more information related to your product and service, that will boost your sales along with natural link building approach. never try too get to many backlinks at one time, its better to get few backlinks at one time, repeat on gap of few days, looks more natural in Google front. all these efforts takes time to get meaningful result. if you can get .edu or .gov, you have added value to website, it shows visitors that your website is authentic.

Here's something to try.

Under each item, include a TRUE (meaning you verified it) anecdote about how the product made a difference for a customer. You don't have to roll these anecdotes out all at once.

Just do it for featured primary items first.

Then do it for secondary items.

Blahdeblahdeblah.

The more often you publish these anecdotes, the more of these anecdotes you publish, the sooner people will begin to notice. Do it right and you should get some natural links.

Hi Leanne,
Your interview probably happened already, but if not, here are some answers:

- Create an infographic for your niche and reach out to niche bloggers to link to the infographic. You can also post on sites such as visual.ly or run stumbleupon traffic to help the infographic gain traction

- Run a contest, giveaway, or scholarship

- Create a useful widget and give it out for free. Make sure there is an embed link to your site

- Create 'evergreen' content for your niche such as 'Best Of' or large lists

There are many more ways to go about doing this so explore! These tactics are pretty 'natural' so they should be satisfied with these answers smile.gif

Best of luck!
