Hi ..
my question is, do you think that there is a difference in ranking between .us domains and .com domains in google.com ??
the thing is, I found a good exact match keyword domain name in .us version and I'm asking myself if it will rank as high as a .com domain
I know that exact match keyword domain names value has decreased recently (even matt cutts said that in one of his videos) , but still, there is a slight ranking boost for those domains, and I want to benefit from it (especially because it's a niche website, and there is no reason to register a brandable domain whatsoever) ..
so do you think that google treats these domains differently ?

It's the same. I had a free domain .co.nr rank for first place. I had to do a lot of backlinking though.

There should be no ranking discrepancies between .us and .com
I'd just go ahead and do it so long as the desired name doesn't infringe upon any trademarks.

I'm confident you can do about as well with .us as with .com. The only gotcha may be in who you get links from, so you may not want to develop a link-heavy SEO strategy. If the content is good enough, people won't stop to think about the TLD when they link to it.

Technically a .us website is supposed to target the US. A .com is worldwide.
