My site monitoring service keeps saying that the site is constantly up and down. Godaddy, the hosting, say that there is no problem and likely it is their firewall blocking the ping requests....

To put my mind at ease I did the following via my command prompt in windows:

If you're a Sectorlink customer (like me) there is a good chance you're experiencing intermittent outages. I stay with them for a variety of reasons. Also, not all the server downtime is their fault (in fact, most of the time it is MY fault). I lease a dedicated server. I have no experience with their shared hosting plan but I know that Sectorlink's entire data center has gone offline more than once over the past few years (maybe 3-4 times since I started using their service).
