I have had my site developed in Actinic and there have been some issues that the developer has had to fix - unfortunately he has now left us with 3 copies of the site on the server all with different names ie (The site now has 18,000 pages) also a SEO company left a very old sitemap.xml on the server
folder/ZZZ
folder/_ZZZ
folder/zzz (the current one)
We have got some good google rankings on some pages - google has indexed different versions over the months the site has been up, so in some searches it can take you to an incorrect page with incorrect prices etc - also over the months - some of the pages have been slightly renamed
Is there an easy way to get everything to divert to the home page - AND preserve the existing google rankings - I have looked into
RewriteRule ^_ZZZ.*$ index.html [R=301,L] and tested on a different server - but it wont work on the server that this site is hosted on
If I was to delete all the pages with /_ZZZ and /ZZZ and just keep the current one /zzz what would happen to the rankings for the old pages
