This has probably been asked before, but how long does it take google to index pages that are beyond the homepage? It's probably been a month since my homepage got indexed but Google hasn't ventured beyond that point. Luckily I saw in my log that google seemed to request about 60+ pages last Sunday. But they haven't been indexed yet. How long would the process take?

Btw, I have virtually no PR and very few links coming into my site except for a few no-name directories. Hope this won't be an issue.

Google is having a minor tremor at the moment, but if it took 60 pages last week, then very soon they are going to show up.

It used to be about 48 hours, but this last month it seems to take a little longer.

Get ready to have the 60 pages listed sometime soon though, and a bit of PR in the next update.

I hope so. Google has also came 4 times without doing much on a couple of visits.

But I have 0 pagerank as of now. Don't know if those directories would even help a bit.

Anyways tell me if my thinking is correct.

pr and links to your site only matters when trying to get your pages crawled but no relevance on whether the pages that are crawled get weeded out of being indexed. er...right?

Hi,

For a new site I usually allow for three months or so for pages other than the homepage to get listed on Google.

Its nothing to worry about, as long as your navigation is OK etc.

Generally speaking I would agree with that sentiment Newbie Guy.

PR definitely seems to have an effect on how much Interest the bot has in your site. The more interest, the deeper it is likely to crawl.

I have never seen a case where a page that gets crawled but not included in the index, assuming there's nothing funny going on like Dupe Content , etc. If you're doing it right, any page that has been crawled will be indexed. No telling where the page may show up in the index, but it will be in the index.

Adding a sitemap is always helpful.

Best wishes,

Clare
