My colleague is looking after our new PPC campaign. We're still in the learning stage of it all and are obviously bound to make mistakes in the process, but I have some pre-conceptions about what a campaign should look like.
Our campaign is currently sending PPC visitors to a list of product results in a category (it's a Wordpress site), as if they were browsing the site as an organic or direct visitor, but I'm concerned that it would be better for us to send them to a landing page instead, with a select list of products primed to their referring keyword.
Which would be better in producing click-throughs to product pages for us?

Test both and see which wins. That's the only way you will find out for sure.

I guess.
I was wondering if others' experience/ intuition might hold one method to be better than the other.

For something like that it would totally depend on the site and the product. That's what great about ppc you can easy know for sure.

Yeh, I understand - a bit daft of me to ask such a broad and vague question, really!
We'll do some split-testing. If money was plentiful, then it wouldn't be such a hang-up for me and we could spend a bit more on experimenting with PPC.

Just be sure they can quickly and easily find what they are looking for on the page you refer them to.
They need to be able to find the info/products related to the ad they clicked within seconds, or you have pretty much wasted your money and they will move on to another website.

Well, after a couple of days of having a custom landing page with a properly-refined list of products, we made a sale, which bodes well for further investigating and refining that method.
