I have had numerous No.1 rankings for my site with Google since I launched it on the 1st January this year. This was until yesterday.
I've just checked my pages today and I am nowhere to be seen!

It's as though my site has just disappeared off the face of the earth, apart from the odd little search terms which are not too relevant anyway.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this has happened.
Just in case I have been penalised, is there anyway I can find out.

I could understand the odd page moving up and down a space or two but for all the pages to disappear is quite worrying.

Try not to stress out over it folks. As I and others have mentioned in other threads, all indications are that another update is In Process. Looks like they're updating the Google Directory info finally too.

Yes Looks like new data has been dumped into the main database, No big changes on my site but definetely there has been shakeups,

there has been a long thread going on regarding recent shakeups,

http://www.webmaster...orum3/22475.htm

GoogleGuy Did confirm there will be minor updates this year,

I haven't checked, but I'm not aware of anything too large launching in the last day or so. People should expect to see daily or near-daily updates this coming year as we continually update our index data, but I'm not aware of any large algorithm updates that would merit calling this an update.

I find it annoying when I have pages very relevant to search terms and very useful for visitors, being replaced by all kinds of different pages that are very poor in comparison and are of no use to visitors whatsoever.

They might mention the search term once and really, the pages have nothing to do with the subject!

I think Google might just be getting a bit too big for their own boots.

They spend too much of their time constantly changing the rules and all they are going to do is push people away..... FOR GOOD!

Enjoy it while it lasts Google because news travels lightening fast on the Internet and I for one am getting p*****d off with it!

Tell me any business which can build a marketing campaign with complete trust in Google as it is at the moment. It's a joke!

They should set their rules (with guidelines) and then stick to 'em!
Then they should leave it to us guys to compete in a fair market while they monitor it with human beings.

They're on about creating perfect search term pages.
All they are trying to do is control the market and make us all go PPC and Google if you are reading this, can I ask you a question.

Why has Yahoo dropped Google?

GEE, I ENJOYED THAT!!!!!! :D

I would advise you to wait a week or so before checking your rankings again. Google is still stabilizing their results so don't get too depressed if you aren't listed for a few days.

Ditto Blackpool!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting new gray hairs everyday while I look at the CRAP that Google is showing as results for MY keywords. (And Jill is ready to whack me over the head for bugging her about it every day!)

I'm not into smilies but I just saw this one which pretty much looks like me these days when I'm checking my Google rankings (or lack thereof):

;)

I've also noticed that when I'm searching for something, I don't find much of use with Google anymore. Thank goodness for Teoma.

It wil be interesting to see where Google goes. They might be getting a lot of pressure from the investments bankers and analysts with the upcoming IPO.

Beth, Beth, Beth...

If only you weren't so far away so I really could whack you in the head.

;)

Hey Beth!
I did searches the other day for terms I was NO.1 for.... and quite proud of the pages even if I say so myself.

Well known holiday facilities which people visit in their thousands.
So I have pages showing pictures of the facilities and the locations of quality hotels nearby and other things to do.

So what's replaced me!

Pages of history lessons on when the things were built and how many people it took to build them!! Seriously, not just on one of the searches but for THREE or FOUR of them!!

I'm off to Mallorca shortly and when I go searching for the holiday I want I am looking forward to finding a page on Google that tells me the sort of aeroplane I will be in and what's being served for dinner............ MUCH!!!!!!
Forget Jill whacking people over the head, I have a nice big wall in my house that I am just about ready to walk into. HEAD FIRST!!!! ;)

i do find it stressful, but that's because we have put so much work into our site and company. google isnt really turning up that much crap for my key search term. obviously i would like to be higher but hopefully that will happen. i reckon a 6 or 7 of the top 10 possitions for my key search term really are the best sites for it. the other 3 or 4 are a mystery to me. although there seem to be a lot of fluctations in the results, these top sites remain around the top.
