Does anyone have any thoughts on product tags?
Ive seen a few sites, mainly magento, oscommerce etc that have tags on the product page.
for example if I was on a product page that was selling......
A Red Fast Car
they would have the usual decriptin picture etc but then at the bottom they would have
"Product Tags"
red Sports Car , Red super car, buy fast red cars etc etc
And they would all be anchor links pointing to the page you are on, so if you clicked it, it would take you back to the same page again. I guess they are hopeing google will pick them up as variances of anchors for the product and will help?
Any thoughts on this kind of king? is it bad as such?

It becomes text on the page. It seems to work for HuffPo.

These links always point just to the page they're on, rather than to some page containing a number of "red sports car" products? Like Jill says, they'll count as text on the page, but the fact that they're links is probably made completely irrelevant if they're only linking to the page they're on.
