I was thinking of putting google adsense ads on my website. Does anybody know if google will penalize you for using their own ads on your website? I was thinking of using them on every page to generate a little income. As of right now I am listing in the top 5 on Google and I don't want to hurt that ranking with ads. But after all, its Google's own ads. What do you think?

Why would you be penalised for displaying the very things which Google make their revenue from?

True...and I know that it sounded like a stupid question. But Google does march to a different drummer so I was wondering if anybody knew. What I was thinking of perhaps doing was to make some peripheral pages on my website that contained basically nothing but google ads with some content on areas that touches on the basic principals of my website. These actually would be more of a resource links page that just happens to be google ads. But I just don't want to overdo it.

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Why would a visitor spend any time looking at such a page, when it contains almost nothing but ads?
Also, if the page contains little or no other content, there would be no way for AdSense to know the subject matter of the page, so it would not be able to deliver context-sensitive ads. You'd end up with just another page of ads for weight-loss products and discount coupons.
A better approach would be to place one or two unobtrusive ad units on a few of your main pages, and to use tracking codes to see how well they perform. You could also check to see if they have any negative effects on the traffic of those pages.
