Hi All,
A client of mine, based in Canada and with a .ca domain, presently shows on the first page of Google.ca for his main term, "Reusable Bags." He also wants to show up prominently - preferably page 1 - for the same term ("Reusable Bags") on Google.com.
He informed me that when an American friend of his searches for "Reusable Bags" on Google.com, he's nowhere to be found on the first 2 pages.
I was wondering if the following would help him to rank for his term on Google.com/U.S. based searches:
1. Purchase the .com and redirect the .ca to it and then Geotargeting the site to the U.S. via Webmaster Tools?
2. If his site isn't hosted on a U.S. server, to ensure it was moving forward (perhaps via a proxy server in the U.S.)
3. Adjusting the site content to reflect more of a U.S. flavor
Does anyone else have any other suggestions? Are my ideas sound?
