Hello All!
First time poster here...
On the software we use to build our websites - the domain will bring up the homepage as it normally should - www.domain.co.uk
If you add /index.html to the domain, the same page comes up - www.domain.co.uk/index.html
If you type in the domain without the www's the same page comes up - domain.co.uk
I've been told on a course that the way this is setup will tell Google that the page exists 3 separate times, and that we should have a 301 redirect in place so the 2 other ones (/index.html and no www's) redirect to the main domain.
I've also been told that the most effective way to do this is through a .htaccess record - which I have limited experience with.
Can anyone help me with the right code to get this done in the right way?
I have it as a problem on many sites on the same server using the same software, so if there's an easy eay of doing it, I need to do the same steps for the others.
Any help and advice is appreciated - thanks for taking the time to look!
Mike

Thanks Jill... and hello!
I've found another thread: http://www.highranki...showtopic=44858 - which looks like what I'm trying to do, but it doesn't work as anticipated...would you be able to take a look for me?
