Hi,
We have a couple sites w/ global reach and have set directories within the site (eg. www.site.com/germany) to be geo-targeted.
Now on both sites we are getting strange results when using google (obviously, using google.de or google.fr etc where applicable) and searching on directory using site: operator. Seems to have happened around May/June timeframe, best we can tell.
Sites (directories) are indexed. Example results are
German site
default (search the web): 1900 pages
language (search pages in German): 1790 pages
pages from Germany: 15 pages
French site
default: 1730 pages
language: 1610 pages
pages from France: 0 pages
These are examples but repeated across multiple clients' sites. Previously the sites (directories) were showing the correct # of pages when using "pages from" option
We've seen major traffic drops, so concern is that not only is the 'pages from' not showing results for the few people who use that option, but that Google is not recognizing these sites as local so even on default search the rankings have dropped.
Anyone know if Google has changed things or is having serious issues with this?
Thanks
