I like the like box. It's a useful tool. But am I right in thinking that it's effectively makes any links from facebook "reciprocal" links ?
I'm thinking about putting one on our site you see. We have about 15 "Likes" at the moment, but the method of liking us is clumsy and relies on an email link.
But I'm guessing FB is more about "getting the name out there" than improving SERPs anyway ?
Many Thanks
Confused.

No. And even if it did, so what?
Facebook links are not all indexed, and they're all nofollowed anyway.

I put like buttons on a site for a while, couldn't help but notice that each like button load made FB come and crawl that page.
facebookexternalhit is the crawler and it pops by each time a like button loads or someone posts a link to your site on their profile.
It shouldn't be about recips, seprs or ranking one bit, does it bring traffic that converts? Isn't that the only thing that matters yes?
