Might be old news but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Google's recent acquisition of Metaweb Freebase googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/deeper-understanding-with-metaweb.html and any implication this may have on SEO.

I know Yahoo also added support for RDFa and Common tags earlier: rdfa.info/2008/02/23/yahoo-microsearch-supports-rdfa/

I have to admit that my knowledge of Common Tags is limited but does anyone here use it in their designs and has it had any impact?

Anyone using RDFa?

I would be very interested to hear any experience people might have with it? I've dabbled but struggle to really find/use the advantages in a SEO context.

The latest is that the new Drupal 7 supports it (released early January), which might have an impact should other CMS choose to follow. Google now includes the use of RDFa in their "Creating Google-friendly sites" section (added 16th December), check it out here: https://w ww.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=146898
