Hi,
I have recently changed my site around and whilst google has quickly picked up the new pages Inktomi has not.
Also I add new content pages on a weekly basis, and likewise Inktomi is always a lot slower to find and add the pages.
Would it help if I added my sitemap to a paid inclusion program?
Currently only my home page is in a program.
Thanks,
Clare

Ink is not that fond of deep spidering, unless it has good reason. make sure your Link pop is good, and maybe Ink will go a bit deeper. I have noticed that Yahoo! slurp is a bit more willing to deep spider to a degree, so maybe there is hope yet.

No. That would get your sitemap spidered quickly, but not the pages it links to.Would it help if I added my sitemap to a paid inclusion program?

To add to what Alan said, the Inktomi paid inclusion spider which by the way is now the Yahoo paid inclusion spider will only index those pages that are submitted through PFI. It doesn't crawl links found on that page like their regular free crawler would. So submitting your site map or any other page will get that page listed but won't prompt that PFI spider to crawl other pages.

I asked that same question at the SES conference and oddly enough the Yahoo rep said that occassionally the editors who review a newly submitted site might include the rest of the pages for spidering, if the site's content is valuableand unique. So, once again, content is king :-)
