Just searched for 'SEO pyramid' on Google and was presented with this unusual layout:

Anybody seen it before and know what the rationale is behind it?

What specifically are you asking about? The images?

It looks like you have some plug-in installed that's showing extra thingees near the ads.

No, it's the layout of the first three SERPs that I've never seen before - the column is much narrower than how I'm used to seeing the SERPs, with the sponsored ads displayed much closer. It only returns to 'normal' from the fourth SERP.

I just thought it was curious how it was displaying the SERPs that way, but can't understand why (the normal way is much tidier).

It seems to be due to that ultra-long URL in one of the ads.

I do think you also may have some plug in that is making the ads look that way. What are those icons next to them?

My bad! You're right - it was the Firefox plugin causing it to display unusually. The icons you can see in the left-hand column are from Foxmarks (which I use to automatically sync my bookmarks across all my browsers) and the two you can see in the right-hand column are from the SEOBook toolbar - it seems that it causes the browser to 'nakedly' display links for Google Ads, with URLs noramlly abbreviated. Never seen it do that before, though, so I thought Google was trying something new...
