I have a project where we are creating one directory that will be located on about 20 domains. Essentially the directory is using a common install of a directory that will have the same listings for each domain.

Would this be penalized by Google? We are not trying to trick them, just do not want the visitors to leave each domain for the directory information. The data for the directory is pushed from one database to all the others in the network. The url's would be about the same, i.e. www.xxx.com/lodging/hotel. All the domains are on a common server with the same ip address.

Thanks for any response!

Welcome James,

Since this doesn't deal with writing copy or content, I'm going to move it to a more appropriate forum where you'll get a better response.

Would this be penalized by Google?

Since there's no such thing as a duplicate content penalty, no. Please see the pinned thread in the SEO no-no's forum where this one has been moved to.
