I have a friend who is passionate about her blog. Is doing it more so for passion then money. She's getting roughly 1000 readers a day, not really optimized for SE, plain titles, etc. Would it be a good idea to move it to a domain? It does currently have a domain forwarding to the blogspot. Would it be too much work and lose too much ranking wise? Or can you do a 301 redirect with something like that? I don't know?
Thanks.

Blogspot or Blogger.com , it is own by Google, you can purchase domain and hosted in the blogger, about $10 a year that you manage everything the same as used to be. You go to Settings > Publishing and you go to Advance setting.

It really makes no difference where the blog is hosted, as far as building an audience goes. If she wants to do things that Blogger won't allow her to do, then she should get her own domain. Otherwise, why mess with success?
