I have a #1 spot in google in a pretty small niche. There are a few other sites that sell the product, and the mark up on it is pretty high. Is there a way I can put something on their thank you page, that when a visitor comes from my site, we can track a sale and both of us can be notified of the referral? Without having to set up a whole affiliate program? Just a bit of code? Is there anything like this?
I have google analytics set up, looked into 'goals' but I figure he would have to add all my code to his pages too?

I'm pretty sure you'd need to use special affiliate links to do it.

Yup, I concur.

Basically you'd need something to track the original hit to his site and categorize it as a hit coming from your site. Then on the end of the sales process you'd need to tie it all back together again to send out any notifications.

Which is basically what affiliate software does. If all you're looking for is gross numbers you wouldn't need anything elaborate, but you would need something that does those two things mentioned above.
