We have been going through the difficult process of getting links from clients suppliers.
In many cases we get "sorry we do not provide links out to other sites"
These range from average size up to quite large.
Also many of them have the full contact details of the company in question, all thats missing is the link to the web site.
I feel like saying "do you have a no phone number policy as well?" however I do not think that will assist in this dilemma.
What is it with some companies who think putting links to their partners is a bad thing? How do you get around this mentality? This company we are doing work for sells a hell of a lot of these other companies products so its not like its irrelevant or anything.
I also feel like saying "what do you think would happen to the internet if everyone had a no link policy like you do?" Its the most insane rediculous thing I have ever heard of. I think we should bring back flogging!
Accepting that flogging is not likely to be reintroduced, how do I approach these people to get what we want?

That's just the way the Web is. Some people will link and some people won't. It's not helping you or your client to allow the reality to frustrate you. Just because it's good policy to seek links from business partners doesn't mean anyone is entitled to them.
I would accept the links I could get and move on. There are plenty of other ways to obtain links for a business site.

Have you tried providing some incentive?
Flogging is not an incentive!!! (Jokes)
Perhaps 3 free hours at an airpod
Will have a think about the incentives I could provide to them, any ideas?
I have a bit of a creative blank on this one.
