I think my computer is about to go belly-up!

Dunno what the problem is exactly but I am going to have to try some drastic measures to regain control. I may be gone some time.

Speak well of me :propeller:

 Hey! You got the reference OWG! I'm impressed ;)

I have just finished backing up my data (amazing how many files get deemed as 'essential', huh? - 11Gb in my case :ale:) and am now about to do some dodgy hardware procedures to try to overcome the software problems.

Oh man. I think I got the reference but I'm not going to admit it or think about it. ;)
Good luck, man. I lost 7 years of email when my PC died.

I spotted the (slightly incorrect) reference. Reading alt.fan.pratchett does wonders for your general knowledge of English-speaking culture.

Oh blimey - it must be too deep for me, I thought you were referring to Star Trek OWG! Or was it Sean Connery in James Bond - Ah well I never was very good at subtle! :propeller:

Speak Well Of Me When I'm Gone could be a quote from Babylon 5 Chrysalis

While the 'I may be some time' was the last thing that captain Laurence Oates said before walking out to get help during the ill fated Scott final assault on the South pole.

Ah yes - now I remember! So, not Sean Connery then?

OWG is on the nose!

Well, the dreaded deed is done. I am now using a lean, mean, typing machine!

Just finished the last of the 72 Microsoft Updates (45 critical) ... phew. :fingerscrossed:

I am now going to set about getting that bloody Flight Simulator to work.

Certainly Smellie ;) You can find it at www.istockphoto.com :halo:

I got the flight simulator going :aloha: First attempt too.

Now, if ever there is one of those movie-type scenarios where the flight attendant asks if there is a pilot on the plane, I can say, "It's okay, Ma'am. I have used flight simulator." :tooth:

Oh well, back to the grindstone ... where did I put my photoshop, dreamweaver, frontpage,.., Disks? I am sure they are here somewhere

Epilogue:

Much to my disgust and dismay, my system crashed after I updated the Chipset Driver using the 'latest version' from the OEM. Should've read the date on that before I fired it in, huh?

SOoooooo, it was back to a full reinstallation complete with all 70+ updates from Microsoft ~ about 150Mbs ~ :(

If you are one of the many who do not back up your data on a regular basis, I would encourage you make the time to do so.

I'm running a backup now -- my first in more than half a year. Thanks for the unpleasant reminder.
