There's no way I'd buy beer if it had a goat or some liederhosen in it, even if it did make a good head.

I don't think a goat would fit in a normal can of beer either....

And you think a pair of lederhosen would? :02:

As I understood it, widgets were first referred to in a 20's novel (I've forgotten the name of the novel however). In it, there is a young idealistic chap imagining a life in big business, and the boss is saying something along the lines of 'I'm the world's biggest manufacturer of aerial widgets' - the young chap never does find out what these widget things are.

I think that is the first instance of the word, but I could be wrong.

The novel was called Ann Veronica by H.G. Wells in 1909. The family name was "The Widgetts." It really didn't come into usage as a word until nearly a decade later, though.
