For the first time I am seeing AdWords text ads in a Google SERP that have an image next to them. The image links to the same page as the text ad. They are in the right side "Sponsored Links" column. Below is a screen capture.

How did those advertisers set up their AdWords ad to show an image? I do not see how to do that in Adwords, nor can I find anything in AdWords help about it.

In these 3 cases, the ad is for a specific physical (tangible) product, and the photo shown is the one on the ad landing page next to the product description text. Is Google making an educated guess that the photo is relevant to the ad? Seems kind of risky: what if Google inadvertently chooses the wrong image to show? That would upset the advertiser. Or does Google have some sort of special relationship with certain advertisers and is allowing them to specify images to be shown with their text ads? I have not heard of this before.
