If i have a page that mentions Dr. Famous Person several times, linking that anchor text to his bio page, is it worth linking his namemore than once on the page (for the purpose of the linking page or the linked page's optimization)?

I sometimes link a person's name a couple of times (say 3 out of the 10 times they are mentioned on a page), but as I'm starting to streamline the design, and make it look less ugly and possibly annoying visually for the reader, I'm considering removing all duplicate links.

Should I hesitate any longer? Or just remove them if the anchor text is the same?

Thanks in advance

Your best rule of thumb is to do what makes sense for the reader/user. Typically that's what's best for the search engines too. (For this sort of thing.)
