Hello, I could do with some advice about serving content based on IP address.

I want to serve content to the US based on IP addresses and UK content also based on their IP addresses. Now as far as I'm aware as long as I don't offer different content to Googlebot then I should be ok, that is, if Googlebot receives the same content as my general user - which in my case is a US user - I will be fine? But how many IP addresses does Googlebot use and are they all US?

thanks
eddy

Last I checked all of the Googlebot IPs were US based. So at the very least you'll want to give spiders and users alike a way to switch out of the default via a link.

As far as how to do the IP -> Geolocation part of the equation, that's become much simpler in recent years. The folks at MaxMind have even developed the tools to integrate it into a web site. The module is called GEO IP. They have both free and paid license versions, depending upon the level of detail you need.
