Hi all,

I have added few pages a month back but yet they havent gained any PR compare to the past where pages used to get a PR 5 in just a month.

When will be the next update (PR and backlinks). I have no clue.

Maybe in a week or two?

I believe, another major G update started this morning. I can see some typical signs of it.

Pages presented in the top 10 for some search terms do not even contain all the requested terms, just some of them.

It has never happened before, as far as I know. Or has it?

Once the number of backlinks start changing you know that an update is happening. Until then it is not a 'true' update. Google is always in a constant state of flux.

Yep, I am with Magellan here, when you see the backlinks being updated, give it a few days and the update (if any) will start.

Is there a way to know when backlinks are updated, other than just looking at each page though the google bar? Do logs tell the story?

I would imagine if Google is smart, they won't do another backlinks update until after the current Search Engine Strategies conference is over which is running today thru Thursday. That way they don't have to deal with those who watch backlinks like a hawk. Everyone is already pretty settled down from the last update which occurred at the beginning of February.

That would be my guess on it. :embarrassed:

Anybody willing to speculate whether google might get into a regular pattern of updating or dancing?

I'm surprised nobody set up a betting pool!
Clare- you think google would do that quickly after the last update?

Today I noticed that a search for my site (without the www or the .com) in Google showed many more sites that contain my site (sorry about the number of SITES there!!!!). Although the link: check has not changed.
there is definately some changes afoot.

Yeah, but remember two things RedDevil...

That kind of search will pull up anywhere that even mentions your site name in text. A link to you doesn't even have to be part of the equation. Depends upon how unique your domain name is too.

And most importantly, Google only shows you what they want to via the Link: command. That doesn't necessarily mean that only those backlinks are entering in to the PR equation.

My guess on the next update date is: Within 38 hours of the SES being over.
