Hi Guys
I have noticed my competitor websites have a link in pretty much every directory I come across, mainly paid ones, however the pages some are listed on , my google toolbar says "google does not rank this page" does this mean the link from here has 0 value or weight in terms of boosting SEO rankings ? and where do pages that rank 0/10 stand ?
Am i best just aiming to get listed in directories where the actual page listings has a Pagerank ?
hope somebody can help

If the pages containing the links really have no PR, then they have no PR to pass on to the targets of those links, but keep in mind that the toolbar isn't updated as often as Google's internal data, and even if those pages currently are PR 0, that doesn't mean they'll always be PR 0.
That also doesn't necessarily mean that you should just copy what your competitor is doing. The best long-term strategy for building links is creating content that people will choose to link to.
