I don't know why vb is more known then IPB, I think the two softwares are in the same level ..
And personally I lile IPB the most (with some customization it can be a great social networking script) Unlike vb that is too much "forum" focused .. So the choice depends on what you need ..
Also, there isn't too many IPB forums in the big boards list http://www.big-boards.com/
Concerning the link 1dmf, is it hosted in their servers?
