I can't figure out what the problem is. This client has many domains pointing to www.phelpsappliances.ca. Google has indexed one of the re-directed sites and not the main site.

Strangely enough, the re-directed site also got picked up AltaVista and the new Yahoo.

I just talked with the hosting company and they assured me that the .ca main site was always the main one and not the redirected one.

Am I missing something? What should I be investigating next? I need to promote this site am stumped by this activity.

Help!! ;)

It doesn't matter what the hosting company says is the main one, the engines pick whichever they feel like.

Does it really matter which one they use? They should all end up at the same place anyway.

Hey Pauline.

The search engines all have their own way of choosing which domain to list as the "main" one. Do the redirect domains have links point to them by chance?

Also, how exactly are the redirects being done? 301 Permanent Redirects are the best way to do that IMO. Google is pretty good about following those. Inktomi (Yahoo!) is not quite as good.
