Hi! :)

I just have a quick question about using apostrophies and what an search engine picks up.

Pretend my keyword phrase is "dog bones". If I have a sentence with the phrase "dog's bones", is the search engine going to see it as "dog" and "bones" or as "dogs bones"?

I get a little confused when I try to research it myself so I was hoping maybe somebody knew for sure which it was. Thanks! :)

Well, Google will see 'dog's bones' as 'dog's bones' - completely separate and different from 'dog bones', 'dogs bones' and even 'dog s bones' . Inktomi sees it as 'dog bones'. The main difference here is that Google sees plurals and apostrophised words as being completely different, while Inktomi does not.

IE: You'll never rank for 'dogs bones' in Google if you only ever refer to them as 'dog's bones' whereas in Inktomi, you could.

Thanks, markymark!

I had a feeling that was the way Google did it. I'm trying to get my copy to sound natural and not too wordy- so hopefully where Google may not like it maybe someone else will.
