Hi Ive noticed my CSS files are being indexed by Google & Yahoo - Yahoo seems to be indexing more though - What use are these to SE ?

Is this normal and more important ok ?

If ok are there any white hat SEO practices that can be carried out on CSS files

Regards

Paul

I would suggest blocking them via the robots. txt file as there's no reason why they should be indexed.

I agree with Jill. I routinely block my CSS files, although I leave it up to my clients what they want to block. Matt Cutts of Google occasionally asks people not to block their CSS files to show they are not hiding anything but then he doesn't have to pay our server fees. Those CSS files are fetched more often than any other page on a site. They don't change often so the search engines don't need to see them, as far as I am concerned.

And I'm not hiding anything in my CSS anyway.
