Hi, I have to create lots of folders that have abbreviations but i would like to rank for the long words....

I have a couple of questions please....firstly, which do you think is better?, (writing the long words or abbreviations):

www.mywebsite.com/Federal-bureau-of-investigation/a-page.html

--- OR ---

www.mywebsite.com/FBI/a-page.html

-- OR --

Does it even matter? - probably depends on which term ranks better -

and, this has probably been asked 13,4776 times, but does it matter to have lots of hypens in a folder name?

Keeping this short.

try and keep your syntax consistent. Either upper or lowercase. Keep urls shorter where possible, as this will increase the chances of people remembering your domain name if, over time, branding takes effect in your users minds.

Frankly every tom, dick and harry is now doing this SEO practice and I'd be really suprised if there was actually any net effect in terms of traffic augmentation from this practice. Even wordpress basic install and Joomla have mod rewrite out the box.

It's better to build category channels in a website which can then be themed accordingly.

I still do it a little bit, but I don't give it much time.
