Sorry to try and split this topic off, but does anyone have any UK recommendations as to both domain names and hosting?
Cheers

Hosting is a different matter, a company that I recommend is BPweb, they have packages running from a few pounds, but are aimed at re-seller hosting really.
1and1.co.uk have a great offer at the moment, they have a good package @ £4.99 a month and you get £50 of adwords thrown in.

They are inexpensive for domain registrations, but I now avoid all of their services.Personally, I've grown a liking to Godaddy.com because it is on the cheaper side and easy to use. I'm sure others would have differing opinions on this.
A few months ago I was going to use them for a merchant account and to host some sites through their Website Complete software. They had undisclosed back end fees for their merchant account and additional, undisclosed hosting fees with the software (Anyone interested in the details, please send me an email or private message and I will elaborate).
I register all of my domains through http://www.Easycgi.com. $10 a year plus an easy control panel for changing nameservers, contact information, etc.

If you want control over DNS servers, I like ZoneEdit -you get 5 free domains and it's cheap for others - you can do all sorts of interesting stuff when you have control of nameservers separate from the webhost (for one thing it's hard to be held hostage)
Once again, hosting is a very different subject

UK hosting - well, I've always liked WebFusion.co.uk but people just sneer when I mention them, so I guess they don't have the greatest reputation. I've never had any problems with them, their service or any uptime and techie type problems and I have a couple of sites that have been with them for four years. Also, I like www.unitedhosting.co.uk - though their servers are in the USA.

Thanks for the UK recommendations - and I guess the US ones, should I ever build a web site for a US client!?!
