What real benefits can you get from submitting to inktomi? I know about the recent merger with yahoo, but is it not still possible to get into yahoo via the yahoo directory for free?
Also how many pages of my site would it be necessary to submit?

As I mentioned in a post yesterday, paid-inclusion to Inktomi is worthwhile only under certain conditions:
1. You need certain pages indexed quickly.
2. You have pages that change often and want to be sure the lastest versions are in Inktomi's database.
3. You have certain dynamic URLs which Inktomi won't index.
That's about it. Otherwise, Inktomi will spider and add your pages for free.
Remember, paid-inclusion to Inktomi will not include you in Yahoo. They will be having their own paid-inclusion in April, which willl be in addition to Inktomi inclusion.

I used the Inktomi paid inclusion mainly because I did not want to wait for them to spider my site. I wanted it now, not later! So far I am seeing little results, but I do have a fairly new website so I expect that.
