Yes backlinks are helpful to SEO.

What you propose doing however is blog spamming. Which is not only not helpful, but would probably make you a lot of enemies.

OK so finally i have the answer... it's helpful.... but how will it make me enemies... i mean i won't be putting my links in the comments box.... i will be placing it in the URL box... and all these comments will be real.. i mean i will be hiring a full time employee who will be doing this work.

So basically all the comments will be real and as per post..

Let me know please!

Very old, very bad idea. Very, very, very bad idea.

Not to mention that many blogs append a "nofollow" attribute to comment links, so the idea wouldn't work very well anyway.

Yes, it's used in many forums now too.

You can often get links by spamming blogs and forums, but it's a pretty crappy thing to do.

Try reading our pinned thread in the link building forum.

But you need to have a link worthy site. Without that you're sunk and you might as well do the blog spamming thang.
