:D Hello, I received some email offers from a couple of places I use to submit my sites using the inktomi service about 6 months ago. The offer reads that current customers will enjoy a free listing until mid April; what will happen after that? how much do I have to pay for Yahoo inclusion, what will happen to the people that paid the $299 yahoo fee? The current inktomi offer costs 39 dollars for the first URL and 25 dollars for URL number 2 to 1,000, seems more attractive than the 299 dollars fee but is it the same? Does it means that after mid April my listing will be taken off? Can someone help us? Thank you

Other than the press release stating that Inkomi PFI subscribers will get Yahoo PFI (Paid for inclusion) until 15th April no information has been released so far.

The way I see it the Yahoo PFI will probably work exactly the same way as the Inktomi one i.e. rapid inclusion and rapid re-indexing.

As to what will happen to the Yahoo Directory? I can't see them dropping it as it is too valuable although they may take the opportunity to revise their pricing structure. Ultimately it is probably likely that sites will need both a Yahoo Directory and Yahoo PFI to perform well. Remember the real aim of Yahoo is to make money...

In the words of Barry Makemetop ' yahoo directory listing, & PFI ink is a killer.
I respect his knowledge of this particular beast, so that is the way I can see me going for highly competitive terms.

There is a difference: the Yahoo directory gives a certain amount of PR to your page because it is hosted in the Yahoo directory and is then spidered and listed in the engines (maybe Yahoo will not spider its own directory)...

Yahoo PFI will just have the site crawled... what ends up where will be determined by what you have at your site.
