I have a Canadian site relating to the services I offer in the local market. I was doing some research on local universities that may be a potential source of a link to my site, however I noticed that all of the universities have a .ca. I couldn't find any with a .edu. Does Google value the links from these .ca university sites comparably to a .edu site?

Thanks,
Anne

A link from a university site should send good PR juice
but a link from a authority site related to your niche may be better

Anne you seem to be under the mistaken impression that .edu holds some special, magical power. The extension quite frankly doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether it's an .edu, .ca, .org, .com, .net, .info or any other TLD.

What matters is how much authority and trust the specific domain in question has built up. Not its extension.
