I was wondering if you are ranking (or trying to rank) your homepage for a particular keyword phrase, is there any reason to try and get those keywords in the content on other pages of the site? Will it help with the overall theme of the site, which will help the homepage rank for that kw phrase?

I'd have a little look in here pal - SEO Tips for Newbies.

Many, many factors come into play when trying to establish whether or not you can rank for a specific term.

How competitive is the keyword?
Is the keyword included within the anchor text from relevant website backlinks?
Is the keyword included within the title tag?

Is there a reason as to why you don't want to include the keyword within your main content?

If the keyword phrase is highly relevant to the home page, odds are it's pretty relevant to the whole site, and it's likely to naturally show up on plenty of pages. At least some of those instances of the phrase can anchor links back to the home page, further signaling the home page's relevance to the phrase.

More importantly is the phrase related to your customers. That is the main reason to include it throughout the site if prospects or visitors will be looking for it.
